Tony Linnane

Fiddle

Legendary fiddler, Tony Linnane was born into a musical family in Corofin, Co. Clare. Beginning on the mouth-organ he advanced to the fiddle and was an accomplished player in early adolescence. Along with Noel Hill, Kieran Hanrahan, Tony Callinan and Barry Moore Tony was a founder member of ‘Inchiquin’ who released one self-titled album that has long since become a collector’s item. Following this, Noel Hill and Tony Linnane released their iconic duet album in 1979 on the Tara label. To this day it is still regarded as one of the finest traditional Irish music records of all time.

Tony has toured internationally and recorded extensively for RTÉ radio and television, and on numerous albums. Collaborations have included Andy Irvine, De Dannan, Tony McMahon, Miko Russell, Joe Burke, Kevin Crawford and Christy Moore. In 2023, Tony released his debut solo album, ‘Ceol na Fidle’ to immediate critical acclaim.

On Friday evening Tony will be joined by Éamonn O’Riordan (flute) and Conor Connolly (piano). On Saturday he will be teaching a fiddle workshop.
