Tommy Keane & Jacqueline McCarthy

Tommy & Jacqueline have been performing as a duo since they met in London in the early 1980s. They came to the music in different ways with Jacqueline born into it in London – being the daughter of piper and concertina player Tommy McCarthy who had emigrated from west Clare in the 1950s. Tommy Keane came under the influence of local Waterford piper Tommy Kearney in his late teens and then learnt from other pipers at the Willie Clancy Summer School.

Tommy spent seven years in London where he played with the Thatch Céilí Band and moved back to Galway with Jacqueline in 1987. They teach and perform at home and abroad, have each recorded a solo album and a duet recording “The Wind Among the Reeds” with accompaniment by Alec Finn.
