Completing our line up for Monday’s concert is a popular trio known well in London circles who have played a lot of music together over the past few years. The trio consists of Mick O ‘Connor on Banjo, Michael Sweeney on fiddle and Tad Sargent on Bouzouki, Bodhran and vocals.
The inimitable Mick O’Connor has been at the forefront of the London Irish music scene since the 1960’s having originally been inspired to take up the banjo by Barney McKenna of the Dubliners. A top drawer musician and equally entertaining on the mic, Mick is universally loved within the music scene. He is joined by Michael Sweeney originally from Derry, but living in the UK for many years. He studied traditional music in Donegal with the guidance of the great fiddle players, James Byrne and Proinsias Ó Maonaigh.
Michael is a highly sought after tutor and is currently the in resident tutor at the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith.
Multi instrumentalist Tad Sargent completes the trio. A London born man with Co Mayo roots, Tad is in high demand as a musician. He has toured and performed at festivals across the UK, Europe and the USA and has appeared on a plethora of commercial recordings.
