County Sligo concertina player, Alex Kelly, comes from a very musical family. He was a member of the national award winning Sligo group: Spraoi. He has been a highly valued member of the traditional Irish session scene here in London ever since he moved over in recent years – first playing sessions in West London with Dublin accordionist, Conal Cuttle and fiddler, Deirdre Glynn and now a regular session player across London. In 2019 he was involved in performances of Michael Rooney’s De Cuéllar Suite which pays tribute to the Spanish Armada. Alex works in London as a secondary school teacher.
Alex is regularly very well received as a tutor at our annual Festival – we are delighted to welcome him back to teach at Return to London Town Festival this year.
