Chan Reid was born and raised in Dublin, where she was taught to sing and play piano by her grandmother before she joined the Royal Academy of Irish Music and Royal College of Music to attain her music qualifications. Chan has sung in choirs all her life and has been leading singing workshops and choirs for almost 2 decades. Chan specialises in singing sean nos “old style” unaccompanied singing in the Irish and English languages and records regularly for radio and television, Chan loves singing harmony and is a regular guest member of The London Lasses. Chan is also an Irish fiddle player and composer and performs with Dan Stewart as Irish music duo Bold Reilly.
